Hudson's Room Makeover by @hudson_and_harlow and The Collab Society — Featuring Little Abodes Interiors
Kids bedroom makeover · Boys room styling Australia · Little Abodes Interiors Shaka neon · Arch wall decals · Removable wallpaper
Meet Alicia from @hudson_and_harlow — the mum behind some of the most beautifully styled kids' rooms you'll find on Instagram. With more than six room makeovers between two kids, Alicia brings an incredible eye for detail, a love of small businesses, and a serious talent for making magazine-worthy spaces that kids actually live in.
Hudson's latest room features three pieces from Little Abodes Interiors: our Shaka Neon, a custom arch wall decal, and our removable wallpaper — and we sat down with Alicia to get her tips, her process, and the story behind this incredible space.
Q&A With Alicia: How to Create a Magazine-Worthy Kids' Room
Where do you find your inspiration and all the amazing products we see featured in Hudson's room?
"When starting to create a new space, I often begin by browsing Instagram to discover new brands and products as well as revisiting old favourites. With so many small businesses on Instagram it's always been my #1 go-to for inspo — the products you get from a small business I've always found to be the most beautifully created and unique. I also draw a lot of inspo from Pinterest — I love making vision boards whenever I'm planning something new!"
With more than six room makeovers between two kids, what do you love most about doing it?
"There are so many aspects of why I love redesigning the kids' rooms! The initial planning when it comes to styling and visualising the space, the careful choice of products, the attention to detail, and of course adding my own DIY to tie it all in. The satisfaction of finally seeing it all come together exactly how you envisioned is what does it for me!"
Your organisation is next-level incredible! What are your top three bedroom organisation tips?
- Keep toys in the playroom, not the bedroom. All the kids' toys belong in their playroom, which already makes keeping their rooms organised a whole lot easier. In the playroom, Alicia uses picture-labelled containers for each toy category so kids can find their toys easily — and cleaning up is so much simpler.
- Use drawer dividers. Little trays inside Hudson's desk drawers keep all his stationery and bits and pieces organised. After homework or drawing time, nothing is left scattered everywhere.
- Utilise underbed storage. Pull-out storage drawers from IKEA under both Hudson and Harlow's beds make the most of every centimetre of space.
Hudson is 7 and loves Minecraft and Mario — how do you balance his personality with a beautifully styled space?
"Hudson loves Minecraft and Mario, but it's not the most aesthetically pleasing style for a room! The letters on the locker tie in his interests and the locker stores all his favourite toys. When I asked Hudson what he wanted in his room he said a skill tester machine — talk about a hard request! So I purchased a claw machine from Typo, completely pulled it apart, repainted it, made custom labels using gold foil on the Cricut machine, then filled it with small toys in the same colours as the room so it all tied in. He absolutely loves it — huge hit with the boys!"
What do you keep in mind when making key product selections?
"Hudson's room is very small and it was important that he had a study area. The slim wall mount desk from The Timber Line was such a perfect choice — it's also got shelving so he can display the things he loves. With the wallpaper, I went for a neutral colour with a traditional pattern so it will still work with a variety of styles as he gets older. I'll be able to easily change the colours in the room without changing the wallpaper. It was also important we used a high-quality, easy-to-remove wallpaper — and the removable range from Little Abodes Interiors was exactly that."
Little Abodes Interiors Pieces in Hudson's Room

Three of the most statement pieces in this room are from us:
- Shaka Neon — the cool, surfy focal point above the bed that gives the room its personality. Our Shaka Neon is one of our most popular pieces and works beautifully in boys' rooms, teen spaces and cubbies alike.
- Custom arch wall decal — adding shape, depth and a designer touch to the wall without any permanent changes. Fully removable and renter-friendly.
- Removable wallpaper — a neutral, traditional pattern chosen specifically because it will grow with Hudson as his tastes change. Peel-and-stick, easy to remove, and made to last.
