Wallpaper Info & FAQs | L A Interiors BEFORE PURCHASE

Before You Buy – Important Information | L A Interiors

We want your wallpaper experience to be as smooth and magical as possible. Please take a moment to read through this page before placing your order—especially if this is your first time using peel-and-stick wallpaper or decals.

About Our Product – PhotoTex®

At L A Interiors, we print all wallpaper and wall decals using premium opaque PhotoTex®—a market-leading, peel-and-stick removable fabric. It’s non-toxic, durable, weather-resistant, and safe for indoor and outdoor use.

PhotoTex is designed to block out wall colour and applies seamlessly with precision-cut edges and no visible borders. It won’t curl, shrink, or tear, and is ideal for both renters and DIYers.

If your wall art isn’t printed on PhotoTex®, it’s not the real deal!

Where PhotoTex® Should Not Be Used

To avoid installation issues, please DO NOT apply PhotoTex to the following surfaces:

  • Teflon-based paints (e.g. stain-blocking formulas): These are highly repellent and will not allow PhotoTex to adhere.

  • Washable/stain-resistant paints (e.g. Dulux Wash & Wear): Contain additives that prevent proper adhesion.

  • Textured surfaces: This includes brick, concrete, render, raw timber, or even slight orange-peel wall textures.

  • Walls without primer: A properly primed wall is essential. Paint that’s applied without primer may peel off with the wallpaper.

    • Why this matters: Primer acts as a crucial base layer that ensures proper adhesion of both paint and PhotoTex. Without it, the paint may not bond well to the surface. If the paint lifts or sticks to the PhotoTex during removal, it can damage your wall and compromise the reusability of the wallpaper.

  • Flaking or damaged paint: PhotoTex will not adhere well and may lift paint during removal.

  • Freshly painted walls: Allow at least 4 weeks curing time before application.

  • High humidity areas: Bathrooms, laundry walls near dryers, and splashbacks may affect long-term adhesion.

Preparing Your Walls – Viponds Self-Adhesive Prep Coat is Essential

We require the use of Viponds Self-Adhesive Prep Coat prior to applying any wallpaper or decals to painted surfaces. Even if your paint seems smooth and suitable, this product is essential for adhesion and removability.

Do not skip this step—it’s critical for performance.
