Those were Sam's words when he saw the finished cubby — and honestly, they meant everything. This project was one of our favourites from start to finish, and today we're taking you behind the scenes of the Caribbean Coastal Cubby we created for Sam, Snez, and their beautiful family.
The Brief: Caribbean Colonial Meets Australian Beach House
From the very first conversation, the vision for this cubby was clear: a tropical hideaway that felt completely at home alongside the family's beach house aesthetic, designed in harmony with Kate Walker Design.
The mood board that guided everything: white walls, dark timber floors, rattan furnishings, pineapple motifs, palm trees, and vibrant botanical prints. Caribbean Colonial with an Australian coastal twist — playful, warm, and full of personality.
The Cubby: Billie Grand by Hide & Seek Kids
At the heart of the build is the Billie Grand Cubby, Mud Kitchen, and River Fort from our friends at Hide & Seek Kids — the Australian cubby makers behind some of the most beautifully crafted play structures around.
The Billie Grand was the perfect canvas for this project: generous proportions, a mud kitchen for imaginative play, and a fort element that took the whole design to the next level.
The Paint Palette: Sun-Kissed and Perfectly Coastal
